Micro-Hydro Power Systems

Given that water flows consistently, it is possible to generate electricity on a regular, constant basis with a micro-hydro system. No matter if weather conditions are calm or adverse, micro-hydro applications operate without cease. Although they are found less commonly than solar or wind in our area, good micro-hydro sites are an excellent prospect for renewable energy generation.

Micro-hydro systems use running water to turn a small turbine which generates electricity. Greater volume and speed of water allows for more electricity to be generated in this way. By measuring the head and flow at the site, one can determine power generating potential and what type of turbine is best to use.
