Coming soon, Whidbey Telecom will open new doors to introduce the ultimate technology & customer service center! Located on Main Street, in the old Harbor Village Square shopping mall, this new building will be the first of its kind in the community.

“The entire project, from concept to finish, has been based around continuing to provide our local community with advanced technology solutions designed to make life easier and enhancing the customer experience ,” said Co-CEO George Henny. “This facility brings it all together in a one-stop shop for the customer.”

Whidbey Telecom’s philosophy of ‘be local, buy local, be eco-friendly’ is demonstrated in the number of local contractors, designers and businesses that are involved in the project, such as Gemkow Construction, building design work by FlatRock Productions, interior design by Kari Gunderson, Whidbey Island Electric, Whidbey Sun and Wind for the solar array, and other local artists and vendors. “We worked closely with FlatRock to create a building that reflects the values of our community in harmony with our island and northwest roots,” commented Co-CEO Julia H. DeMartini. “It’s wonderful to see how community and technology can produce a beautiful result for Freeland.”

“Selecting local resources for this project complements our philosophy of investing locally and contributing to the sustainability of our local community and making choices that are eco-friendly,” said Ms. DeMartini. “In fact, the new building includes the largest solar array on Whidbey Island. We are proud to be embracing green energy.”

The new Whidbey Telecom office will showcase a broad array of home and business technologies, as well as provide a new, high-tech education conference venue. “We are planning to offer free community classes in the high-tech conference room, including computer, Internet, and current online trends”, stated Mr. Henny.

“The northwest seems to run on coffee, so we are introducing a warm and inviting fireside coffee venue, supporting our fellow local businesses by offering an array of locally-produced coffees and delicious foods, complemented with a super-fast Wi-Fi hotspot and awesome technology,” said Ms. DeMartini.

Whidbey Telecom’s customer service personnel will be homed in the new facility, creating a single customer touch-point for technology on Whidbey Island. “We are expanding our computer sales and service center, and will be creating a new retail center that will bring together technologies for both home and business into one place.

The retail store is designed to let customers have an interactive experience with a whole array of solutions.  Computers, security and alarm, cloud computing, networking, wireless, smart-home technology, and of course, cool gadgets,” said Mr. Henny. “Imagine that you will be able to turn on your lights and change the temperature in your home remotely through your smart mobile phone, or view your security cameras through a secure web connection.”

“The new facility will enable Whidbey Telecom to expand the customer’s experience by having more space to showcase solutions and provide hands-on demonstrations of technologies. Customers can relax and know that we are there to support their many technology needs, because we make it easy and simple for them.” “This hi-tech, community-inspired center will provide everything under one roof, with the award winning* customer service our customers trust.”

In addition, Whidbey Telecom recently acquired the adjacent parcel on which Webb’s Department Store is located. “We will be stretching the well-designed exterior elevation to include Webb’s, which will remain open during the construction process.”

“We are spring-boarding from our history as an innovative company and our focus on the personal touch to our customers. Stay tuned for more!”, stated Ms. DeMartini. The new facility is expected to open in the fall of 2010.
