Open Position: Renewable Energy Installer
Location: Coupeville, Whidbey Island, WA
Whidbey Sun & Wind (WSW), one of the leading renewable energy design & installation companies in the Pacific Northwest, is seeking a dedicated team member in the position of Renewable Energy Installer. WSW is involved with many aspects of the industry: the design and installation of solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, wind power, and hydropower systems; as well as efficiency, education, and consulting. - Basic understanding of electrical wiring, plumbing, and roofing
- Experience with hand-held and power tools; must have your own hand tools
- Ability to use a computer, email and cell phone, and to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to drive a vehicle, valid license, and reliable transportation to and from office or job sites
- Training, experience, and education in the renewable energy field or a related discipline is a plus
Duties:
- Move, stack, load and unload materials to and from warehouse, truck, and job site
- Work from drawings & plans
- Make calculations and layout of components, measuring distances, chalk lines
- Use tools such as drills, impact wrench, torque wrench, saws, torch, hammers, level, tape measure, etc
- Climb and work from ladders, scaffolding, and towers, with harnesses
- Work with wood, steel, aluminum, copper, concrete, caulk, paint, sealant, glue, cleaners, solder, flux, etc
- Work on knees, in awkward positions, in attics, crawlspaces, in ditches, etc
- Install pipe, conduit, wire, cable, insulation, support posts, racking, rails, collectors, towers, turbines, etc
- Document installation with pictures, commissioning forms, receipts, sketches, etc
- Clean up of work site, vehicles, and shop
- Care, maintenance, and cleaning of company-owned tools and equipment
Working conditions:
- Physically demanding work
- Regularly lift and move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Standing, climbing, kneeling, crouching
- Working outdoors
- High on roofs, towers and scaffolding
- Enclosed spaces
